Here is the very latest! See the 2011 page for last year's "latest".
When I first moved my horse Billy to a new barn, he had trouble integrating himself into the new herd. He discovered these two mares in an adjoining pasture (I removed the fence for the painting) and decided that he needed to make friends with them rather than the four other horses in his own pasture who were shunning him at the time. I loved the look of him as "caretaker", and also was intrigued by the play of light on the trees in the background. This portrait of my beloved horse is a "keeper" for me--not for sale at any price!
This is another of my paintings created as a donation for a future fundraising event, this one at Reins of Life in South
Bend, Indiana. The large horse is Gunny–she was the 2010 Indiana Therapy Horse of the
Year. The one that looks like a pony is actually a miniature horse,
named Rosie, and she was the Exceptional Therapy Horse Challenge Winner
in 2010 at the Hoosier Horse Fair in Indianapolis. So we have two real
winners here from the Reins of Life therapeutic riding program. Both of
them are still working away, happily making life better for the wide
variety of clients which Reins of Life serves.
